Building strong reading habits out of school, we are tracking how many minutes Springfield's kids are reading this summer.
OUR GOAL
Kids build habits of reading outside of their school day by practicing reading 20 minutes every day in their OST/summer programs.
Springfield summer program providers will schedule 20 minutes of daily independent or 1-on-1 reading, with a wide range of appropriate books to choose from for all children in grades Pre-K through 5th grade.
SUCCESS IS MEASURED...
By counting the number of programs in the city who have 20-minute independent or 1-on-1 reading daily for all children to show us the scale of impact of integrating reading every day.
By counting the number of minutes kids read across the city in their summer programs to celebrate the dedication of kids and programs to build habits of reading.
DIRECTIONS FOR PROGRAMS
For programs, this means ensuring you have at least 20 minutes of reading scheduled every day. Then, weekly using this form to tell us how many kids participated. That's it!
